The Higher Education Compass features the range of
information on all German institutions of higher education and the study
courses they offer. In addition, it lets you access the information on the
institutions' own websites. The Higher Education Compass provides important information on
all state or state-approved higher education institutions (HEIs) in the
Federal Republic of Germany: all undergraduate and postgraduate study
opportunities offered by them, all doctoral study opportunities and all
international cooperation agreements of German higher education institutions.
The Higher
Education Compass does not include information on establishments or
courses of study outside the higher education sector.
Should you require further information, e.g. on a particular higher
education institution or course of study, you are advised to contact the
institution directly as soon as possible and to address any questions you may
have in due time. In general the "Zentrale Studienberatungsstelle"
(central student advisory service) of the respective institution is the best
starting point for initial enquiries. They will also be able to provide you
with information on other establishments and organisations. Also the
on-line-version of Studien- &
Berufswahl offers you a list of all programmes of study at German higher
education institutions as well as general information on study in Germany.

Beneath we provide some visa information, which is relevant for
those who are interested in studying in Germany.
|
|
|
|
|
|
Student Applicant Visa
|
|
|
|
|
|
This applies if you do not yet have a certificate of admissionor
confirmation of application of an institution of higher educationor
University in Germany.
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
You will need the following basic documents:
|
|
|
A passport (valid at least 6 months after intended
return!) and a UAE residence visa valid for at least six months.
|
|
|
2 passport copies with copy of valid UAE-residence permit
|
|
|
A school leaving certificate, i.e. a UAE - General Secondary Education
Certificate, entitling you to study in both U.A.E. and Germany or at least
allowing you to visit a preparatory course in Germany, as well as, where
necessary:
|
|
|
proof of previous studies
|
|
|
proof that you already possess German-language skills or that
you plan to attend an intensive language course (at least 20 hours per
week) in Germany
|
|
|
Proof of sufficient funds for at least one year, the
equivalent of a minimum of 12.000,- Deutsche Mark
(1.000,- DM a month).
|
|
|
A declaration by the person who will sponsor you (Use only
Embassy form !)
|
|
|
A letter by the sponsors bank, that funds are available in at
least the aboveamount. (Use only Embassy form !)
|
|
|
recent bank-statement of sponsor (not bank letter)
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
Student Visa
|
|
|
|
|
|
This applies if you have a certificate of admission or confirmation of
application to an institution of higher education or a University in Germany.
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
You will need the following basic documents:

|

This applies if you plan to only attend a language course without further
academic studies in Germany.

You will need the following basic documents:

For a course shorter than 3 months different conditions may apply!
|
|
|
A passport (valid at least 6 months after intended
return!) and a UAE residence visa valid for at least six months.
|
|
|

(depending on your nationality)

1 (2 )recent photograph(s) (depending on your nationality)
|
|
|
certificate of admission to a recognized german language course
or confirmation of application (receipt for course fees)

letter from local employer - sponsor, stating qualification
and begin of employment in UAE

leave-certificate by employer

|

valid health insurance policy

up-to-date personal bank-statement

This type of visa cannot be changed into a Student Applicant or Student
Visa once you are in Germany!
|
|
|
If you plan to begin studies in Germany immediately after your
language course ends, you must apply for either a student visa
or a student applicant visa before arrival in Germany,
otherwise you will have to leave Germany at the end of the course and
re-apply from the U.A.E.
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
The following information applies for all types of visa:
|
|
|
|
|
|
Submit your application with all accompanying documents at least three
months before your planned departure for Germany
|
|
|
There is no legal right to a visa, even if all
documents are submitted. The ultimate decision rests with the authorities
in Germany and Consular Section of the Embassy.
|
|
|
Fees must be paid upon submission of the above. For rejected
visa applications half the fee is refunded.
|
|
|
Only original documentation will be accepted!
|
